Short version: your recordings are yours, Snippet is a tool for cutting them up, do not upload things you have no right to, and this is a small service run by one person rather than a company with a support desk.
By using Snippet you accept these terms. If you do not, do not use it. Snippet is operated by Jabir Hussein Bhimani in Ontario, Canada.
You upload a recording. Snippet transcribes it, lets you select passages, and cuts those passages into clips. That is the whole service.
You keep every right you had in what you upload. Snippet claims no ownership of your recordings, your transcripts or your clips, and does not use them to train anything.
You give Snippet permission to do the one thing you asked for: store your file for as long as your plan's retention window, send its audio to a speech-recognition service, send the resulting text to a language model for chapters and highlights, and cut clips from it. That permission exists so the product can run and it ends when your file is deleted.
Do not upload anything you do not have the right to upload. In particular, no material that:
Accounts that do these things are closed without notice, and their content deleted.
Snippet runs on one server and on shared allowances from other providers. Do not automate uploads, script the interface, evade the quota by creating accounts repeatedly or by any other means, or deliberately try to exhaust the service for other people. Rate limits and quotas exist for that reason and working around them is a breach of these terms.
You sign in with Google, so Google's rules apply to that account as well as these. You are responsible for what happens under yours. If you are under the age of majority where you live, use Snippet only with a parent or guardian's permission.
Paid plans are billed in advance through Stripe and renew until cancelled. Cancel any time in the billing portal; you keep the plan until the end of the period you have already paid for. Prices can change, but never for a period you have already paid for, and you will be told before a change takes effect.
Refunds are not automatic. If something went genuinely wrong, write and it will be dealt with fairly.
Uploads are deleted automatically after the window your plan gives you, as short as thirty minutes with no account. Snippet is not a backup. Keep your own copy of anything you care about. Deleted files cannot be recovered, by you or by anyone.
There is no uptime guarantee. Snippet depends on outside services that have their own limits and outages, and when they are unavailable parts of it will be too. It may be changed, interrupted, or discontinued at any time. If it is discontinued, reasonable notice will be given to anyone with a paid plan and unused time will be refunded.
Snippet is provided "as is". Transcripts are produced by speech recognition and will contain mistakes. Chapters, highlights and answers are produced by a language model and can be wrong or misleading. Do not rely on any of it for anything consequential (legal, medical, financial or journalistic) without checking it against the recording yourself.
To the fullest extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profit, or for lost data. Total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid in the three months before it arose, which on a free account is nothing.
Nothing here limits liability for anything that cannot lawfully be limited, and none of it removes consumer rights you have under the law where you live.
You can stop at any time: delete your account in Settings. Accounts that breach these terms may be closed, with content deleted. Sections 3, 10 and 11 survive.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada that apply there. This does not deprive you of protections you have under the law of your own country.
These terms can change. The date at the top says when they last did. Continuing to use Snippet after a change means accepting it; if you do not accept, delete your account.
