Snippet turns a recording into a transcript so you can cut clips from it. To do that it has to hold your file for a while, and if you sign in it holds your name and email. This page says exactly what that means, who else sees it, and when it goes away.
Snippet is operated by Jabir Hussein Bhimani, based in Ontario, Canada. For questions, requests or complaints, write to createonsnippet@gmail.com.
snippet.vid. It contains no information about you. It exists so that when you ask for your own recording back, the server can tell it is yours rather than a stranger's on the same network. Without it, anyone sharing your internet connection could reach your upload.Google gives Snippet your name, email address, profile picture and a stable account identifier. Snippet stores those four things and nothing else from your Google account. It cannot read your Gmail, your Drive, your contacts or your calendar, and it never asks for permission to.
A second cookie, snippet.sid, keeps you signed in.
There is no analytics, no tracking pixel, no advertising, and nothing on this site reports what you do on the page to anybody.
One thing is loaded from somewhere other than Snippet's own server, and a request for a file tells the host serving it your IP address and which page asked. It is Google Identity's sign-in script, fetched only if you press Sign in. It is not given your recording, your transcript or your email. The typefaces this site is set in and the library that draws the moving artwork on the home page are served by Snippet itself, so simply reading these pages tells nobody else you were here.
Snippet cannot transcribe or summarise anything by itself. Three services do that work, and each sees only the part it needs:
| Service | What it receives | What for |
|---|---|---|
| Groq | The audio extracted from your file | Speech recognition |
| Google Gemini | The text of your transcript | Chapters, highlights, and answering questions about the recording |
| Google Identity | Your sign-in | Verifying who you are |
Your video itself is never sent to Gemini, only the words. Both Groq and Google process data outside Canada, including in the United States.
When payments are enabled, Stripe will handle them. Card details go directly to Stripe and never touch Snippet's servers.
If email notifications are enabled, Resend delivers them to the address on your account.
Nothing is sold, rented, or shared with anyone else. Nobody outside this table is given your recording, your transcript or your account.
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| An upload with no account | 30 minutes |
| An upload on a free account | 24 hours |
| An upload on Pro | 7 days |
| An upload on MAX | 30 days |
| Your account | Until you delete it |
Deleting takes the file off the disk, not just off the list. There is also a Delete from server button on every recording if you want it gone sooner.
Settings → Delete account removes your account row, your recordings and the files behind them, your clips, your usage history and your sessions. It cannot be undone and there is no grace period.
One thing survives, and you should know what it is. Snippet gives every new account a one-time bonus on its first upload. To stop that being claimed over and over by deleting and re-registering, an irreversible cryptographic hash of your Google account identifier is kept after deletion: a fixed-length string that cannot be turned back into your identifier, your email, or anything else about you, and that is not linked to any other record. It answers exactly one question: has this identity already had its bonus?
Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA), and under the GDPR if you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, you can ask to see the personal information held about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, and to receive a copy in a portable form.
Two of those are buttons rather than requests: Settings → Export my data gives you a machine-readable copy immediately, and Delete account erases it immediately. For anything else, write to createonsnippet@gmail.com.
If you are in Canada and are not satisfied with the response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Snippet sets two, both strictly necessary and neither used for tracking or advertising:
| Cookie | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|
snippet.vid | A random id so the server can recognise your browser and give you back your own upload | 1 year |
snippet.sid | Keeps you signed in | 30 days |
Both are httpOnly, which means no script on the page can read them.
Traffic is encrypted in transit. Your Google password is never seen by Snippet. Sign-in happens at Google, and Snippet only checks the signed token that comes back. Card numbers are never seen either.
No service can promise perfect security, and this one is small and new. Do not upload a recording whose disclosure would seriously harm you or someone else.
Snippet is not intended for children under 13, and accounts are not knowingly created for them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, write to createonsnippet@gmail.com and it will be deleted.
If this page changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes affecting people with accounts will be announced in the app.
